May 2022
KEDRAB hosted a sponsored dinner at Casa Bella Restaurant in Ventura. 22 Chapter Emergency nurses attended. ENA swag was raffled to promote future events.

March 2020
February 26th and 27th Channel Islands ENA sponsored a CEN review class and 33 nurses showed up. Chapter leadership met February 20th to discuss future meetings and possible fundraising opportunities. We reached out to some of our members to help design a chapter logo and are working on getting them printed on shirts and stickers for our next Chapter social. Next Chapter event will be a Happy Hour/Networking social on April 9th.

November 2019
Channel Islands Chapter had three members represent as delegates for the General Assembly and attend the National Convention in Awesome Austin. For Emergency Nurses Day our Chapter leadership visited seven Emergency Departments in Ventura county and gifted baskets full of snacks. We also included brochures for our upcoming CEN review in February and information about upcoming events. Chapter elections were held this month and due to little interest our leadership was reelected for another year.

August 2019
Channel Islands Chapter is slowly gaining some momentum. August 1st we had a chapter meeting to discuss elections and future leadership in the chapter. Although we only had seven members show up, an email was sent to members asking for interest and a few people replied. Another meeting will be scheduled for those interested. Four members have booked their trip to ENA Austin. Kari and Ed were chosen to be delegates at the general assembly in September. In June several ENA members volunteered for the Ojai Music Festival medical tent, and Sidewalk CPR community education.

May 2019
Chapter leadership met twice in April to discuss chapter requirements and future meetings. Channel Islands Chapter will be hosting a networking mixer in June with a topic to discuss SB1152: The Homeless Discharge Bill. The chapter would like to hear how this bill has affected our emergency departments and share ideas that has helped. Community service opportunities for ENA members include June 6-9 Ojai Music Festival medical tent volunteers, and Sidewalk CPR community education June 1-7.

February 2019
January 10th we had our first ENA chapter meeting of 2019. Seventeen people attended and we spoke about ways to gain membership and active participation in the chapter. Kari Worden attended the SCLO orientation in January. The 2019 Channel Islands leadership has met twice to discuss chapter business and Ed Pulido, immediate past president continues to mentor new leadership. Next Chapter meeting will be April 25.

November 2018
CI chapter sent 2 representatives to the Annual Conference in September. Chapter elections were held on October 29th with all new officers (posted to the ENA website). Five chapter members attended FEMA disaster training in Alabama back in October. Ideas were shared/discussed on increasing attendance, participation with chapter activities for 2019. Ed Pulido will continue to mentor all the new officers and will remain the State Council Board Liaison. We thank Kathy Vandusen and Linda Rosenberg for their help and support with the chapter.

2 members presented at high school career day in April; working with EMS provider for Hands Only CPR event in June; partnering with hospital to begin atop the bleed community outreach.

Disaster Preparedness Training for Nursing students- Feb at Ventura College Working with Ventura County EMS and local acute care hospia to offer stop the bleed training-May Looking forward to hosting State Council in our region in Santa Barbara.

January 2018
Adopted a family of 7 for the holidays including toys, gift basket and food items. -Continuing our partnership with Ventura College nursing school mentoring student nurses. Presented to graduating students on readiness for practice during thier Dec 4 meeting. Mentoring includes resume review and mock interviews. We will continue this throughout the school year as a way to promote ED nursing. -In Dec our area was affected by the fires that devastated the Ventura/Santa Barbara areas. Over 1000 structures were lost including 1 acute psych hospital. Ojai Hospital activated the emergency plan and remained opened despite being surrounded by the firestorm. SB Cottage hospital was threatened with evacuation and was on emergency alert for several days. -The Ventura County Master the Disaster planned in Feb is open to Chapter members through their agencies, reservations are required. Chapter members should contact VC EMS for more information on registration. -Working on 2018 meeting calendar, to meet at least quarterly. Locations will be held central in the chapter, near Ventura/Oxnard. -Through ENA Foundation and SD State Council, i was awarded an academic scholarship that assisted me in completing my MSN this past Dec from the University of Arizona, College of Nursing.
