Chapter Report to State Council
March 2022
We were able to have 4 attendees for the Leadership Orientation 2022. 2 of our members are now holding state leadership positions. During the event, we purchased the memorial brick for Amanda Webb. We will get a photo of that brick and present in our social media.
Sonia has been working to update our hospital rep list. The hospital rep is a key player in dissemination of OCENA information by sharing communications with their departments. There is a list being updated on our website with the hospitals who do not have a rep. We are gearing up for summer volunteerism activities.
AFSP is having a bike ride and car show on 4/30.
Stop the bleed awareness day is 5/19. We are working with CAENA to host a stop the bleed during the May meeting in Anaheim.
Also, 5/21 we will have our OC drowning prevention initiative community event across Orange County on May 21st. Busy May!
We had 28 attendees for our March meeting and 40 rsvps for the upcoming 4/13 meeting. Planning for next meeting in June or July.

Orange Coast ENA had a successful December event sponsored by 3 vendors. We had over 20 attendees and 3 first-time attendees. We discussed plans for the upcoming year including volunteer opportunities and upcoming meetings for the state. We are excited to have several chapter members at the state level, including Jillian Lee- Quality and Safety chair, Flora Tomoyasu and Lisa Chambers- regional ENPC directors, Christi Marshall- Membership chair for the state. Also, we were able to have 4 attendees to leadership orientation in Charleston, SC- Jillian, Lisa, Flora, and Sonia (chapter membership chair). We are in plans for a virtual meeting due to a surge in our area. We also are connecting with multiple Vendors in planning the next in-person meeting. More to come. Several chair positions are open in the chapter level, please email enaorangecounty@gmail.com
March 2020
Orange Coast had a well attended meeting February 19th at St Joseph Hospital with at least 10 first time attendees and 2 student nurses. It was sponsored by Pain Ease with a great dinner catered by Olive Garden. We are offering 3 scholarships this year–Gary Sparger, Vicki Dippner-Robertson and Amanda Webb. Amanda’s husband donated $5000 and will present the recipient their award at our August educational event at CHOC. We are also have a Stop the Bleed class at Mission hospital 3/25, a Rare disease talk 4/20 with more events to be determined in May, September and December with the sponsors already lined up.
January 2020
Orange Coast ENA had the last meeting of 2019 in December at CARE ambulance training center. The event and meeting was sponsored by EZ IO with a focus on humeral head insertion per Evidence Based Practice.
We deferred normal meeting business in order to honor the life and legacy of Amanda Webb who we lost unexpectedly in November. Orange Coast ENA members gathered together with purple flowers and candles to share stories and commemorate this extraordinary nurse that was such an integral part of our chapter.
The Orange Coast ENA board discussed continued honoring of Amanda through the creation of a pediatric emergency nursing scholarship to begin in 2020. We will also be purchasing a brick at ENA headquarters in her name, and lastly we hope to partner with Cal ENA for other opportunities in 2020.
Jillian Lee, President Elect and Jason Balogh, Treasurer for 2020 attended SCLO in San Diego in January. Several of our Orange Coast ENA members were also seen at the CA ENA State meeting preceding SCLO.
2020 will be sure to be a great year with several events already planned.
2/25 sponsored meeting with Gebaur and Pain Ease at St. Joseph’s hospital in Orange CA at 6PM. Sign up on the eventbrite link on our social media or in emails sent to OCENA members.
3/25 meeting will be at Mission Hospital in collaboration with Mission Trauma team for a Stop the Bleed training at 1630, followed by an OCENA meeting and ending at an Irish Gastropub meetup in Mission Viejo. Again, register via the eventbrite link.
Save the date for 8/8/20 OCENA Educational Conference at CHOC.
